All About Relationship Astrology
Venus retrograde is coming. We've actually been in its shadow since late August. Nobody likes retrograde season, but this is one I've grown to appreciate. It teaches us about perception. While Venus is retrograde, we tend to see what we want to see in others. If you're self-aware, take things slowly, and act responsibly, by the time Venus turns direct, you'll know where you still tie your self-worth to the value you see in someone or something else, and where you need a little more self-love. Dealing with worth and self-worth often becomes easier as you age. You know yourself better, and you become less dependent on outside validation. Yet when Venus goes retrograde, you deal with it again. Your beauty, your relationships, your assets. Venus retrograde can bring up a lingering sense of doubt about how you perceive your own worth. This is what Venus retro is mostly about: any kind of worth, really. I'll try to keep this article clear and focused on relationships, but Venus is more than that. The Venus retro period can expose uncertainty in the value judgments through which we choose, desire, spend, relate, and own. A little background: Venus goes retrograde about every 19 months. It also has an 8-year structure, with Venus retrogrades returning to a similar area of the zodiac approximately every 8 years. You can look back at the retrograde that happened in 2018, from October 5 to November 16, and see what you dealt with back then. I actually remember what happened to me back then. These retrogrades cross my Ascendant. A childhood friend who became a plastic surgeon insisted on giving me a certain beauty treatment I didn’t feel I needed. He wanted to pamper me and show his love. It was considered a premium treatment, something women pay a lot for, and he offered it to me for free. Eventually I agreed. It took me many months to get the stuff out of my face. I learned a lesson. (How can this happen to an astrologer, you may ask? Well, I was deep in high tech back then. Stressful times. I avoided astrology on purpose for a while.) But anyway, what’s happening now is more relevant. Venus Retrograde 2026, Dates and Degrees The pre-shadow began on August 31. This Venus retrograde starts on October 3 at 8°29' Scorpio and ends on November 13–14, depending on your time zone, at 22°52' Libra. Venus will move through this same range of degrees three times: first direct, then retrograde, then direct again. Some themes that emerge on the first pass are revisited during the retrograde and reconsidered as Venus moves forward again. In Scorpio, where Venus is in detriment, the retrograde may bring up questions about intimacy, trust, sex, attachment, jealousy, vulnerability, and what lies beneath the attraction. It may also raise a deep urge for intimacy if you are single, which may lead you to act differently than you would have at other times. Not only is Venus starting in Scorpio, but this retro also carries an extra Plutonic tone. On October 3, the day Venus stations, Mars opposes Pluto, and Venus forms a tense pattern with them for about three weeks. Venus squares Mars on October 10 and Pluto on October 20. These aspects can make feelings, desire, and power dynamics visible and intense. It is a good reason to pause and notice what is being stirred before reacting. It's also good to remind yourself this tense energy shall eventually pass. Venus returns to Libra on October 25. In Libra, one of the signs Venus rules, the focus may shift to the relationship itself: Is it mutual? Is it fair? Are both people giving and receiving something of value? On October 23, Venus meets the Sun at 0°45' Scorpio, the midpoint of its retrograde cycle. This can be particularly relevant for those born from October 22 through 25. It can be a positive transit that also prompts reflection on love and self-worth. Mercury turns retrograde the next day, October 24, at 20°59' Scorpio. From October 24 until November 13, both Venus and Mercury are retrograde. I expect these days to feel more stressful in general. Mercury retrograde makes communication more complicated, while Venus retrograde is making us question what we want, what we value, and each other, and it happens to everyone at the same time. People may become nervous because of the different pace, misunderstand messages, or react to doubts they are already having inside. Read messages carefully, and avoid rushing to conclusions from delayed replies, silence, and unclear messages. Mercury turns direct on November 13 at 5°02' Scorpio. Venus follows on November 13–14, depending on your time zone, at 22°52' Libra. Venus then moves forward over the same degrees again and is fully out of its shadow on December 15, at 8° Scorpio. By then, you may see things more clearly. Dating, Exes and Relationships I am single now. I browse dating sites incognito when I'm in an active dating period, according to my own Romantic Timing calculator (on the natal chart, open Romantic Timing). I might keep my low-key subscription on. I might welcome a new relationship if it starts while Venus is retrograde, if it's a person I knew in the past, with the general advice to be extra aware and extra careful when reading situations. If someone new interests me and enters my life, I won't count on it to develop. I have seen a few, not many, not marriages, but a few actual long-term, meaningful relationships that started during Venus retrograde. I have seen many more illusions happen at the same time: meeting under Venus retro, falling deep in love, waking up to reality as soon as it passes. You may notice the warning signs but still act on your wishes rather than what you recognize. Be accountable for what you choose to walk into, because it may hurt. You can date during Venus retrograde. Life does not stop. But it is better to move slowly. Do not rush labels, engagement, moving in, or major romantic promises. A new connection may feel familiar, magnetic, or unusually intense, especially while Venus is in Scorpio. With all the Plutonic aspects it makes during this retrograde, I expect a relationship that begins during this period to have a karmic tone. The same is true for a relationship that returns, as Pluto represents transformation and rebirth. There's a reason you're drawn to certain relationships. Take your time before deciding whether the relationship is good for you or a lesson you've already learned. An ex may return during Venus retrograde, a connection to review. This does not mean destiny, or that you should get back together. It may be an opportunity to reconsider what the relationship meant to you, how you saw yourself in it, and how you see yourself now. Don’t treat intensity, familiarity, or someone’s return as proof that the relationship is right for you. For existing couples, Venus retrograde can bring old issues back to the surface. This can be useful if both people are willing to be honest. It can support repair, deeper conversations, and finally naming what has been avoided. If a relationship has been held together by silence, unequal effort, jealousy, or fear, the retrograde may make those things harder to ignore. Venus retrograde is not against relationships. It is about introspection and reassessment. You might see value in something during the retrograde that diminishes afterward. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have tried it. Scorpio, Jealousy and What Is Underneath Venus starts in Scorpio, so besides a deep craving for intimacy, jealousy can come up. A word about that. Jealousy often has fear underneath it: fear of losing someone, fear of not being enough, fear of being replaced, or fear that the relationship is not as secure as we thought. That fear does not necessarily come from the other person's behavior. Sometimes it comes from our own self-worth issues, old experiences, or doubts that already exist inside us. Of course, sometimes the other person's behavior really is the reason for jealousy. The point is not to automatically blame ourselves or dismiss our intuition. It is to separate the two: What is this person actually doing, and what am I afraid it means? Beauty, Projects and Launches Venus also covers beauty, branding, pricing, and design, so this retrograde touches work as much as love. It is a good time to revise, refine, review your pricing, and fix what already exists. A brand-new launch or a big change to how you look is riskier, because what feels urgent now may not feel right after Venus turns direct. If something must launch, leave room to adjust it. Real-Life Examples You're dating. You meet a man at a party. You're charmed. He's articulate, intelligent, broad-minded, and hot! Looking good! Better than the nerds you work with. At first, he doesn't seem fully interested. He's taking his time. He seems popular with the ladies, and you wonder if there's someone else. You're into him. He works in a creative field you find interesting, and he's great company for partying. You deserve some party time! Life is short. Better to dance more. You go out a lot. Boom, you're in love. But after a while, as you get closer, you want a peek into the future, at least the near future. And then you start to see that this man is all about partying and can't really do much beyond that. His creative endeavors aren't that successful. He's struggling with life at home, his ex-wife, and his teenage kids. And he definitely drinks way too much. You want to live well, with a healthy person who takes care of himself and maintains healthy relationships. When Venus turns direct, you realize: you deserve better. By the time Venus is out of its shadow, you've forgotten that romance and blocked the drunk dude who wouldn't stop messaging you. Your lease is ending, but you have time to find an apartment. Oh, you've been waiting for this. For years, it was never the right time to move. You need a change. You start looking and find an amazing deal in a neighborhood you've always dreamed of living in. Right on the park, near the beach, where all the big names live. It's always been outside your budget and a little too far from the places you need to be. But here it is! A deal! There's construction nearby, so the rent is lower. Okay, they're building really close. That could mean noise and dust. It would put a whole side of the apartment out of use, with the windows kept closed. You'll need to clean more and air the place out more, especially with two cats. But hey, you'll be someone who belongs in that posh neighborhood. You think you can make it work. Well, maybe you can, but I wouldn't recommend it. After Venus turns direct, you'll find it's too far away, too noisy, and too closed-in. And you'll see that deal clearly. How Will Venus Retrograde Affect You? As always, your natal chart matters. The house or houses Venus travels through show the area of life being reviewed. Run your Natal Chart if you need the houses. How this retrograde affects you also depends on the aspects Venus makes to your natal planets. A harmonious aspect does not lose its benefits just because Venus is retrograde. If the exact aspect falls within Venus’s retrograde range, Venus makes it three times: before the retrograde, during it, and afterward. Its benefits may unfold gradually across those three passes. For this particular retrograde, pay attention to planets and points around 22° to 29° Libra and 0° to 8° Scorpio. The more personal the contact, the more likely Venus retrograde will feel like an actual review rather than simply something happening in the background. And perhaps that is the most useful way to approach it. Not as a period when you are supposed to stop dating or enjoying yourself in any way, but as a period when you may better understand how you value yourself and where more self-love is needed by reflecting on what and whom you value.
It’s back. That strange astrological limbo that sends half the internet into a panic and has everyone suddenly asking about astrology, whether they believe in it or not. Misinformation spreads fast. Opinions flip. Mercury retrograde! Already doing its thing before it even begins. So, are we all doomed for the next few weeks? Should we start nothing, sign nothing, trust no one, and avoid dating until Mercury turns direct again? Can a romance that begins during Mercury retrograde survive? Can it even flourish? Well, of course it can. You can absolutely meet someone during Mercury retro and go on to have a meaningful, long-lasting relationship. But in the beginning, you may experience some confusion and misunderstanding, meaning you should put increased attention on clear communication, and practice a little more flexibility and patience when things aren't totally clear. (Practical advice on dating during this period is at the end of this post.) Mercury goes retrograde three times a year, sometimes touching a fourth. If everything started during those periods was doomed, humanity would be in serious trouble. Trust the universe; it usually wants order. The Messenger In Roman mythology Mercury is the messenger god, quick, clever, adaptable, and a little mischievous. The Greeks knew him as Hermes. He is the traveler between boundaries, carrying information between worlds, never fixed in one place. In astrology, Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, the two signs most associated with communication, information, and the workings of the mind. In Gemini, Mercury expresses speed, curiosity, and exchange; in Virgo, it expresses precision, analysis, and practical application. Mercury is the fastest planet in our solar system, completing its orbit around the Sun in just 88 days. We feel that speed in how Mercury operates: quick thinking, rapid communication, information moving fast. Three or four times a year, Mercury appears to slow down, stop, and move backward through the sky. It isn't actually reversing, of course. It's an optical illusion created when Mercury, on its faster inner orbit, overtakes Earth and appears from our vantage point to go backwards, the way a faster train passing you can make your train feel like it's moving in reverse. When Mercury goes retrograde, it stops running forward and reviews what was already sent. What was missed. What was misread. What needs saying again. Retrograde is not Mercury malfunctioning. It is the messenger doing a different part of his job. What Can Go Wrong... Just like the archetype, Mercury rules communication, thinking processes, information, learning, transportation, technology, paperwork, and many of our day-to-day interactions. When Mercury goes retrograde, these areas often operate differently. Not necessarily worse. Just differently: not in the way we're used to. In my experience, the most accurate thing you can say about beginning something during Mercury retrograde is that it probably won't unfold exactly as expected. But then again, isn't that true of life in general? The difference with Mercury retrograde is that you usually realize it sooner. What you expected and what's actually happening diverge quickly. And when Mercury goes direct, your thinking returns to normal and whatever you missed finally becomes visible. And it can be difficult. Like moving into an apartment you only saw at night and finding out it's very noisy in the daytime, or starting a new job all excited, misunderstanding the first task, and sending the wrong file to the client on day one, or impulsively traveling to a beautiful Greek island an influencer recommended just to find out you can't move there because it's packed with tourists. All of these could be avoided when you prepare and acknowledge that these days are simply prone to miscommunication and misjudgment. But operating differently may also work in your favor: you start a new job and your manager unexpectedly leaves, resulting in a promotion you never saw coming, or you move into a sublet and find yourself living there happily for years. You may miss your flight by arriving at the wrong time, meet someone while waiting at the airport and eventually realize they're the love of your life. That's Mercury retrograde in action, too. Just don't underestimate this transit's effect on communication. Misunderstandings seem easier to create. Details can be missed. Assumptions sneak in. Messages can be interpreted differently than intended. That's what this transit is strongly felt, even by people who don't care about astrology at all. Days of this can be exhausting. So, listen. Read carefully, and ask questions when something is important. If you're signing a contract, have another person read it carefully too. Electronics and tech tend to malfunction during Mercury retrograde. I can't explain it beyond saying they are Mercury-ruled, and perhaps that's more obvious than it sounds. Electricity is transmission, signal, communication moving invisibly through air. The devices that carry it are the physical, earthly form of that same energy. In other words, electronics are simply Mercury in modern dress. When Mercury goes retrograde, they act up. Back up your important files, work carefully, and accept that material things break. As for medical procedures, that's a more personal decision. If I had flexibility in scheduling something major, I would choose a date carefully if possible. I can't really tell you that avoiding Mercury retrograde would save an operation. A surgical chart has its own logic, and the full picture matters more than one transit. Sometimes things simply need to happen as they happen. But even if the concerns are simply anxiety, delays, or communication issues, I generally prefer to be cautious. I've seen great outcomes from medical procedures happening during Mercury retrograde too. Hey, I'm almost 50 and I've been observing astrological transits for at least half of my life. In any case, it makes no sense to stop living your life, reject opportunities, or postpone important decisions out of fear. Get informed, be logical, and trust yourself. And What Is Preferred To Do? Re-Do! Well, all the "re"s: redo, reflect, review, revise, and rest. Use this time to tie up loose ends, organize, and slow down. You may find yourself being ultra-creative, solving stuck past projects through sudden mental breakthroughs, simply because you are thinking differently. Not Everyone Experiences It the Same Way I wasn't always this relaxed about Mercury retrograde. Years ago, I genuinely feared these periods. I believed anything started under Mercury retrograde was destined to fail. So I failed myself; anxiety drained me. But study, experience, and practice changed my mind completely, and I sincerely hope this article will help you, dear reader. For one thing, every Mercury retrograde affects people differently. The sign, house placement, aspects, and condition of your natal Mercury all matter. For another, I've watched plenty of people completely ignore Mercury retrograde and achieve wonderful things that started under its full influence. My own daughter is a perfect example. She's extremely Mercurial, with Virgo rising, a Gemini Moon, and Jupiter exactly conjunct Mercury at 0 degrees (yes, she's brilliant!). She's an overachiever in both science and the arts. Ironically, I often see her thrive during Mercury retrogrades. Sometimes I wonder if the retrograde actually reduces some of the cognitive overload she's normally carrying. I've watched her begin new courses, move apartments, start jobs, and pursue opportunities during retrogrades without any remarkable problems, resulting in changes for the best: promotions, bad roommates leaving and friends moving in, a project she really wanted cancels, only for a greater one to find her specifically. If you're in a healthy period, Mercury retro is just a natural, momentary shift in perspective that might actually make things better. A really difficult period is marked by several challenging transits happening simultaneously, not because Mercury alone happens to be retrograde. Years ago, one of the top-notch astrologers I studied with surprised me when I visited her beautiful home. She told me they had both signed and moved into it during Mercury retrograde. She explained that when they decided on the house, the rest of the chart looked excellent, the house felt right, and they had spent a long time thinking, reconsidering, and changing their minds before making the decision. Twenty-five years later, they're still there and she still loves the house. Interestingly, that story reflects Mercury retrograde perfectly. The process involved reviewing, reconsidering, and refining before committing. Now, renovations during Mercury retrograde? That is one area where I personally become much more cautious. I would expect issues. A large renovation usually involves multiple contractors, endless phone calls, changing schedules, deliveries, instructions, and constant communication between many people. It's Mercury territory. Without proper communication, a project like that becomes Babylon; there is no way to cooperate. Getting off to a bad start on a renovation can turn what should be an exciting project into an exhausting ordeal. Who Feels It Strongest Not all Mercury retrogrades hit equally. It depends on which sign Mercury is transiting at the time. If your Sun, Moon, rising, or natal Mercury is in that sign, you may feel this period more intensely than others. Gemini and Virgo placements are sensitive to every Mercury retrograde regardless of sign, since Mercury rules them both. Beyond that, if Mercury retrograde is transiting your natal 7th house, the house of partnership and relationships, you may notice its effects showing up in your closest connections. Communication with a partner can become more strained than usual. Misunderstandings may arise more easily, and conversations that would normally flow smoothly might need a little more patience and care. To see exactly how your chart will be affected by the coming Mercury retrograde, create your birth chart and apply transits at Astrology Addict Tools. You can also check past periods or the dates of major events in your life, to see whether Mercury was retrograde at the time and how it affected you, whether you were aware of it or not. Create a natal chart, turn on 'transits,' and select a date you'd like to inspect. When the Past Comes Knocking One of my favorite Mercury retrograde phenomena is the return of the past. Old friends reappear. People you haven't thought about in years suddenly contact you. Memories return. Conversations resume. You might reconnect with a former partner, revisit old emotions, or suddenly find yourself thinking about situations you believed were long behind you. That doesn't necessarily mean a reconciliation is destined, but you may have a chance for closure. Meeting Someone & Marrying During Mercury Retrograde If you meet someone during Mercury retrograde, enjoy getting to know them. Stay curious, ask questions, and observe their consistency. A connection formed right now may involve some early miscommunications or evolve differently than you first imagined, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth pursuing. You are simply taking in and processing information differently right now. If the connection is solid, it will naturally find its footing. And if someone from your past reappears? Sit with it. Don't rush. Let Mercury turn direct and see who is still standing. That is usually your answer. In short, there is no issue whatsoever with dating and meeting new people during retrograde periods. I've seen multiple weddings during Mercury retrograde. I even saw one couple renew their vows during this period, which fits the retrograde spirit perfectly. Those marriages did not end up in divorce, as far as I know. Just like any marriage, it's the couple who make the marriage, not the date. But the date usually fits the couple's connection. I don't believe that Mercury retro is like a bad omen that spells divorce when marrying during it. it's a transit, not a deterministic curse. Many couples get divorced even when marrying on the best possible date, or suffer in their marriage which to me, isn't better. But having the wedding day itself during this period may present some stressful confusions. It is a production, after all, with vendors, timing, and endless moving parts, and communication issues may add unnecessary stress to this happy day. Practical Dating Advice for Mercury Retrograde Over-communicate: Explain better. Assume nothing landed the way you intended it to. If a text feels even slightly ambiguous, pick up the phone. Don't catastrophize: If a date cancels or goes quiet, don't spin out immediately. Give it a beat before reacting. Right now, a delayed reply is much more likely to be an overwhelmed schedule or an unsent draft than a sudden rejection. Hold the big talks: Save the "what are we" or exclusivity conversations for after Mercury turns direct if you can. If you can't wait, be explicit and say what you mean in plain language. Defining a relationship is an agreement, and agreements made during retro almost always have to be clarified or renegotiated once the planet goes direct. Sit with the past: Notice if someone from your history reaches out, but give yourself time to sit with it before responding. When an ex or an old friend texts during this transit, you are usually reacting to the memory of them, not the current reality of them. Reserve judgment: First impressions can be easily skewed during this time. If an initial meeting feels a little awkward or clumsy, give it another chance. Double-check logistics: Tech fails are real. Confirm your plans twice, and don't rely on a single message getting through. *Mercury retrograde also plays out on a global scale, shaping world events and collective miscommunications in ways that go far beyond the personal. But that's a different article.
This post uses 'he/him' pronouns for narrative flow, but these patterns apply to all genders. The Story We All Know: You meet someone, maybe through an app, maybe at a friend's party, maybe that eyes-across-the-coffee-shop moment. The connection is undeniable. You have that amazing first date (or two), where conversation flows effortlessly and there's genuine chemistry. They seem interested, maybe even eager to see you again. But then something shifts. They become elusive, confusing - hot one...
If you have discovered that Chiron is approaching a conjunction with your natal Venus, you probably feel both curiosity and concern. So first of all, there's nothing to fear. This transit can bring tender themes to the surface in relationships, self-worth, and embodied comfort, yet its underlying movement is healing and integrative. Without tracking chart transits, this may simply register as meaningful growth. When Chiron highlights Venus themes, it brings on a period of working through suppressed feelings and old wounds, which can clarify self-worth, reduce self-defeating patterns, and improve boundaries and reciprocity. Those shifts can make daily life feel more congruent and relationships more honest, which often leads to more sustainable happiness over time. The complete transit often includes three exact passes, sometimes four if the natal degree is near a Chiron station point, during its retrograde loop. That repetition offers multiple chances to process, integrate, and change. Whatever emerges can resolve. *** Check whether Venus and Chiron are in aspect in your chart and track your upcoming transits with Astrology Addict Natal chart calculator Understanding the Chiron-Venus Dynamic Chiron, the wounded healer, marks tender places that mature into medicine and perspective. Venus signifies love, attraction, pleasure, beauty, aesthetics, values, and resources. It describes how affection is given and received, what feels harmonious, and how value is appraised, including money and material comfort. Venus also governs social life, friendships, and the quality of our connections beyond romance. Our social experiences often mirror our internal sense of worthiness and belonging: when we feel incomplete or unlovable, that wound frequently manifests as rejection, exclusion, or friction in friendships and group dynamics. Under a Chiron transit to Venus, social pain can surface precisely because it reflects where self-worth needs healing. In charts, Venus emphasizes sensual embodiment and aesthetics in bodies and spaces more than overall physical vitality. When Chiron meets Venus by transit, themes of love, value, vulnerability, and embodiment come forward. Many people redefine love as value, recognizing worth even when wounds are present. Timing and Duration Not everyone receives this conjunction in a given life. Chiron’s cycle is roughly fifty years. The felt duration depends on both degree and sign, and it runs longer when the natal degree is near a Chiron station. The transit is active while Chiron stays within orb of the natal Venus degree across retrograde loops. Typical window is about 9–18 months with three to four exact hits, extending toward 24 months when the natal degree is near a Chiron station. For precise dates, use an ephemeris and track when Chiron enters and exits 1 degree for a tight window or 2 for a broader experience. Additionally, the strength and condition of your natal Venus matters. For example, Venus in dignity (Taurus or Libra) may process the experience with more clarity and resilience. Venus in detriment or under pressure (for instance, squaring Saturn or Neptune) may feel the transit more painfully, but also more profoundly. The life stage you’re in also matters. For some, this transit occurs around age 20 or 30. For others, it may happen closer to the Chiron return at around age 50, a time when deeper life themes come full circle. The Emotional Journey This transit can stir unworthiness, longing, and isolation, or the ache of unfinished stories. The same sensitivity opens empathy. Many feel called to support others with similar wounds. Vulnerability becomes a doorway rather than a flaw, inviting intimacy that reflects the truth rather than a performance. Because Venus relates to pleasure, comfort, and sensual embodiment, body-centered themes can surface. Common threads include body image, touch and intimacy, chronic symptoms with emotional roots, and renewed focus on healing routines, diet, and self-care. These themes are often strong when Venus involves the 2nd or 6th houses and may also be deep when the 8th or 12th are engaged. How strongly these themes show up depends on the natal condition of Venus (sign, house, and aspects) and on Chiron’s path through the chart (house placement, exact aspects, and proximity to stations). The Healing Opportunity: Letting Love in, Wound and All Chiron does not break. It reveals what already aches and offers a way through. This may look like closure conversations, deeper openness, and awareness of protective patterns in love. The core lesson is that lovable does not require perfect. Integration lands as embodied self-worth rather than performance. By the end of this transit, many emerge with a more integrated sense of self-worth, not inflated or performative, but rooted in truth. You begin to see beauty in your scars. You relate differently to love. You move through the world with greater authenticity, freed from at least one of the burdens you’ve carried for too long. What to Expect During the Final Pass The final pass of a Chiron transit often brings clarity, resolution, or at least a quieter relationship with the wound. If you were hurt socially during earlier passes and worked through that pain, the final pass may present similar social dynamics or rejection situations one last time. However, your response will reveal your transformation: where devastation once lived, you'll likely find indifference or calm detachment. The difference is that after integration, you no longer find those types of relationships enticing and can witness with clarity that what once hurt you simply doesn't matter anymore. The external event becomes your proof, a mirror showing you how profoundly you've changed. The Myth of Chiron: From Pain to Purpose In Greek mythology, Chiron was born to the Titan Cronus and the nymph Philyra, but was abandoned by his parents due to his unusual form. Raised by Apollo and Artemis, he became a skilled healer, astrologer, and teacher to many Greek heroes. Yet despite his wisdom, Chiron was wounded, accidentally struck by one of Hercules' poisoned arrows. Because he was immortal, he could not die, but neither could he heal himself. Eventually, he chose to give up his immortality to end his suffering and was honored by the gods, placed in the sky as the constellation Centaurus. This myth is the root of Chiron’s astrological meaning: the wounded healer whose pain becomes his gift. He could not escape his own suffering, but through it, he gained the power to teach, heal, and elevate others. Working Constructively with the Transit It’s important to remember that Chiron transits are targeted opportunities for healing. If you're aware of it, work with it. Don’t fear the feelings that arise. Emotions like abandonment, unworthiness, or deep longing are not permanent states. They’re echoes of old wounds being stirred for the sake of healing. Even if you feel emotionally raw or vulnerable, remember, this will pass. If you know you're under this transit, use it for honest self-reflection. What patterns continue to show up in your relationships? Where do you regularly feel undervalued or unseen? These realizations, though difficult, offer a chance to address root causes rather than symptoms. Above all, practice self-compassion. Let yourself move at your own pace. Your ability to handle this transit deepens with experience. What may feel overwhelming will eventually become a source of strength and wisdom. A moment when you stopped running from the wound and started listening to it. And of course, let these feelings out. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Cry when you need to. My Personal Experience Going Through This Transit I went through a four-pass Chiron conjunct Venus cycle. Looking back now that all four passes are complete, I can see how much changed in my relationships, priorities, and sense of self-worth. My Venus is in Aries in the 6th house, which means love, worth, and values show up through work, health, service, and daily routines. About a year before the first exact pass, I was diagnosed with celiac while Pluto was squaring my Chiron. I sensed the Chiron transit to my natal Venus was tied to the emotional side of this slow healing: allowing myself to be vulnerable, asking for consideration, and stepping back from leading in group settings. I love camping and festivals, and the diagnosis made shared meals and events a vulnerable space. I had to ask for accommodations, depend on others for safety, drink less, sleep more, and protect my energy. My strong, healthy persona changed. My values were also tested. A friend acted dishonestly, and a friend group split. I lost some connections and felt both abandoned and misunderstood. This happened exactly on the first Chiron pass to my Venus. Yet through that rupture, I found an authentic circle of new friends who became my closest people. I raised my standards and allowed my social world to reorganise around what I truly value, although at first I experienced it with a lot of self-blame. One of the most confronting insights was that I am not responsible for everyone’s wellbeing. For years, I naturally took the role of holding the group together, anticipating everyone’s needs, and making sure no one felt left out or hurt. Under this transit, I had to accept that people have their own processes and pain, and that I cannot protect everyone from discomfort. This was painful, but also relieving. My value is not measured by how much I carry for others. On that first hit to my Venus, I also met someone with whom I shared an unusually deep, authentic connection. It was the kind of bond that felt karmic and Plutonic, with chemistry and attachment through the roof. From the beginning, it felt profoundly healing. I had rarely, if ever, felt so fully seen and mirrored in my inner world. The connection was mutual and very real, but the circumstances were impossible. That tension brought up every Chiron-Venus theme at once: abandonment, not being chosen, questions around my desirability, and the old reflex to take responsibility for everyone’s emotions so that no one would suffer. At the peak of the transit, all the unspoken hurt erupted in a brutally honest message. I regretted parts of it, but even that rupture became part of the healing. I saw how much pain I had been quietly carrying and how necessary clear boundaries actually are. Apologies were exchanged, compassion surfaced on both sides, and we gradually let each other go while acknowledging the love and impact that would remain. With perspective, I can see that the relationship was not for me. He was not a good fit. Yet it was one of the most healing love affairs for both of us, a clean, unconditional love. The love was real, even though the relationship did not suit me. When dating, I have a clear sense of what suits me and the values I expect. But I also remind myself that I fell deeply in love with someone who was far from that description, and all I wanted was the safety of that love. I hold both truths: what I need in a relationship, and how deeply I can love someone who does not fit those needs. This was also Chiron conjunct Venus for me: not a neat “healed” love story, but an experience in which deep love and deep incompatibility coexisted. The healing did not come from “getting” the person. It came from experiencing that love while learning to honor my own needs and recognize that love alone does not make a relationship right for me. After all four passes, I am much more focused on myself and my own endeavors than on leading groups of friends. The value I once found in that role is gone, while the value of investing in myself and what I want to build has grown. With Venus and Chiron conjunct in my natal chart, these lessons felt especially personal. The period was intense and at times devastating, but it also included some of the most beautiful moments of my life. I was happy and satisfied with my life before it began, and I had studied and been through a lot. I was not aware I still had so much self-worth work to do. Looking back, I feel more whole. The healing happened not only in the big events, but in the quiet choices afterward: asking for what I need, letting others carry their own emotions, and choosing to invest more of my energy in myself. *** Transits time the chapters, but the learning happens in daily practice, in the quiet choices after the big scenes. The charts may look dramatic; the healing is often subtle.

Significant relationships begin or end, emotional patterns shift, and inner and outer life realign. Looking back, this point was active during every major romantic event I can...
